About us
Proud to be social enterprise
Devon Health Ltd and its sister organisations Devon Doctors Ltd and Halton Health Ltd are social enterprises. We exist to provide high quality healthcare services that benefit the local communities we serve. We don’t have shareholders so we can put any profits back into our patient services.
Devon Health delivers high performing primary care services to individuals from groups which do not traditionally use mainstream primary care services.
Strong links with local practices
We are a subsidiary of Devon Doctors Ltd which is owned by every GP practice in Devon and provides the county’s urgent out-of-hours service. Devon Doctors Ltd has been recognised by the National Audit Office and Department of Health as one of the leading urgent healthcare providers in England.
What Devon Health can do
Work with local people to:
• Deliver high quality services nearer to their homes.
• Provide out-of-hours hospital services in familiar surroundings.
• Support and, where possible, extend access to GP practice-based family care.
Support local GP practices:
• Providing medical/margin cover to the GP practices of Devon
• New services through practice based commissioning (PBC)
• Providing intermediate out of hospital care
Work with PCTs to:
• Offer support as they develop and implement improved care pathways
• Deliver cost effective high quality services in primary care
• Prevent fragmentation of care and to keep services in the NHS family
Work as a flexible and strategic partner to support the provider arms of local NHS bodies such as:
• Primary Care Trusts
• South Western Ambulance Service Trust
• Mental health providers
• Secondary care providers
